I was born in San Francisco and with roots in Marin County and Mill Valley and was introduced to the mountain experiences of the Sierras and Lake Tahoe from an early age. Those experiences eventually formed a lifelong commitment to the outdoors. I won a national junior race here. At the time it was called Squaw Valley. I came here for some spring downhills and was lucky enough to ski Palisades in its full glory. I fell in love with the area and spent a winter and two summers here before college. I fully embraced the concept of coming for the winter and staying for the summers. I grew up on a lake and watersports are second nature and a way of life. The Sierra’s and Lake Tahoe combine world class skiing, a big lake with deep blue water, world class climbing, and mountain biking. I feel this combination can’t be surpassed anywhere in the world; I have looked.
An NCAA ski racing experience culminated in an athletic career that grew from years of training, goal setting, and a personal commitment to excellence in multiple sports.
I took this commitment to excellence and a business school degree to form Comstock Mortgage, that became a leading mortgage company in Sacramento, California.
We were second homeowners and living in Sacramento, increasingly spending more and more time at our second home in Tahoe Donner. I used to say: we were living here and working there. Our oldest son was having success as a youth ski racer, and we made a full time move to paradise in the summer of 2000. My wife and I have raised our children here and will continue to call this home forever.
